2002 Millennium Awards Dinner
6th Annual Global Green and Green Cross Millennium Awards brings environmentalists together in Los Angeles on March 15th 2002. This dinner, attended by 400 VIP's, at the Ritz Carlton ballroom in Marina del Rey, featured a keynote speech from President Mikhail Gorbachev.
Mr. Gorbachev is the current President of Green Cross International.
The event also featured a live auction sponsored by Siemens Solar, who donated a solar electric grid-tied system, including installation donated by Graham Owen, owner of GO Solar Company. This system, valued at $13,000, was purchased by actor Woody Harrelson for his Los Angeles home.
President Mikhail Gorbachev's rousing speech stressed the critical need for Global Green and Green Cross Internationals efforts and the importance of each individual action to shift our values toward the environment.
The President also focused on the need for the US government to take serious action on global climate change.
